Today, during the latest Xbox Developer Direct, Now: History Untold, a new strategy game from Oxide Games, went deeper into the reveal gameplay and more. The game was first announced in 2022.

Oxide talked about its “living world,” a procedurally generated map for players to create the society they want in Ara. As the developers say, it will change over time based on player decisions. You can watch the presentation from 25:00.

Ara’s prestige system allows players to build a nation better than their opponents. The game’s scoring system awards points based on what type of leader a specific player wants to be. One example, as detailed during today’s livestream, is the construction of “Triumphs,” or famous buildings throughout history that offer large Prestige bonuses.

Oxide is a Maryland-based studio founded in 2013 by former Firaxis developers. Their previous games include Ashes of the Singularity and 2016’s Star Swarm.

Now: History Untold is expected to launch on PC and PC Game Pass in the fall of this year. However, Oxide plans to maintain its “Insider Program” after launch, implementing player feedback.
